I am once again making updates to this blog. I apologize for leaving several stories uncompleted. It has always been my intention to finish them, but I did not have the opportunity until now.

After a year of doing almost no writing, however, I discovered I had apparently forgotten how. Everything I tried to create felt flat, and stilted. So I spent the last month writing a five part Kirk/Spock (yep—Star Trek, I’m honestly amazed I wasn’t obsessed with this sooner, ha ha) fan fiction on AO3 to get back into the writing mode. I completed it yesterday, and am now significantly more confident about continuing this blog.

I will be editing the older stories here (since my understanding of grammar, style, and punctuation has improved over time—yay! for growth), and making some changes to the layout. I then plan to finish “Don’t Open the Box” and “Unwholesome Things.”

Again, I apologize for disappearing. Someone I care deeply about received a life-altering (but not life-threatening) diagnosis, and I was preoccupied by it. Adaptations have been made all around, and I’m now better able to find a balance. In some ways it has actually been a positive experience because it changed my outlook on a number of issues.

  1. I am THRILLED that you are writing again, and especially that you will be continuing first with the two that had especially caught my interest. Sorry about the drama in your life, but so glad it wasn't life threatening. Please keep us updated :)

    1. I am so glad you are thrilled =] and I am definitely doing those two stories first (I will not be lured away to write fanfic until they are done, ha ha). Thank you for your kind words about the life stuff. It really is completely tolerable/functional now, but I felt I should say something to explain the long hiatus. It's frustrating when people write a series, and then just vanish.

Thank you for checking back here, and for commenting. I will do my best to update with story stuff soon =]

    1. Can't wait!!! Your writing style is amazing!! Definitely the best stories I've ever read in this genre! I've checked this blog more than I care to admit in the past few months, hoping for updates. LOL. I'm sorry that you went through such a difficult time, but I'm glad to hear that things are better for you now. Now I'm going to be pushy. Any idea when we might get a new chapter for Unwholesome Things?

    2. Wow, thank you! I am in complete awe over your comment <3

I am writing a sequel to Don't Open the Box first, mainly because the initial story is shorter, and thus takes less time/work to reacquaint myself with it. But Unwholesome Things will be next. I'm guessing maybe a month? I sort of write in layers, as in I write a draft quickly, but then I rewrite it five or six times until it's satisfactory, before moving on to proof-reading/editing. It's a slow way to write, but it's the only way I seem to be able to come up with anything remotely witty. The good news though, is that I now have much more time to write than I used to =]

    5. I appreciate your enthusiasm! I am working diligently to finish the current project, although it's become longer--and is taking longer--than I had expected. Hopefully the momentum will continue to pick up...

Are you still planning to update UWT?
      Thanks!

  4. Hello A.K,

I'm really, really, glad you're back! I have kept checking this blog, diligently during all the time that you were away, hoping for any update. I love your writing a lot. I'm sorry you've had a hard time with your writing. I know what it's like to fall off the wagon but more in the sense of sketching than writing. I didn't know you were on ao3. I'll soon be lurking happily there too. I hope your loved one in doing better now. I look forward to seeing more of your writing.

Again, really glad to have you back!

    Lots of fangirling squeals! \(^ o ^)/

    1. AO3 is addictive =] That's awesome that you do sketching. I'm always envious of people that can draw. I had a web comic for a while, but I never developed my skills enough to be happy with it. I love your name by the way, it reminds me of a silent film I was crazy about as a teenager XD Thank you so much for your kind words!

  5. Hi, welcome back. Sorry things were rough and glad to hear they're better. Just wanted to say I love your unique and funny perspective, and I hope you haven't "improved" too much. I particularly enjoy your discipline fiction, which is hard to find, especially original stories that are so well written. Wishing you the best in your writing endeavors. Know that you have an appreciative audience awaiting your return!

    1. Thank you so much! It means a lot to me to know that you've enjoyed my work. It's wonderful to know my stories will have an audience, since I'm very happy to be writing again =]

The use of the word "improved" may have been presumptive on my part though, ha ha. We shall see.

  6. Glad you're coming back. I've missed you. I think I've re-read Unwholesome Things about a billion times. I won't even need to refresh myself with it when you start posting again. lol You really do fantastic work and I hope your style hasn't changed too much. I'm sure I'll love it regardless. :)

    1. Kelsin! Hello =] I'm so happy that you've gotten so much enjoyment out of that story. There are a few works other people written that I 've read over and over again, and it's amazing to hear that I've created something like that for someone else. Oh, and when I was referring to style, I primarily meant technical stuff like dialog tags and comma usage in my earliest works (before Unwholesome Things). I very much appreciate your vote of confidence though! Thank you =]

    2. Like Kelsin, I've read Unwholesome Things over and over. I can't wait for the next installment.

  7. I've been stalking your page on-and-off the entire time! I was so happy to see this update. I've read your stories through a billion times while waiting. xD
I'm a huge fan and you'll always have me as a dedicated reader. :)

But the last time you made this kind of post and didn't update for over a month, you were gone for over a year. :/ I'm sort of scared.

    1. I felt guilty about leaving works unfinished in the past, and so was waiting until all three parts of the continuation of "Don't Open the Box" were done before posting it. Would it be better if I just posted each chapter as soon as it's complete? That way progress can be seen, wait times will be shorter, etc.? I'm willing to do that, if that's what you'd prefer...

The editing process is taking me longer than it used to. I am still somewhat rusty, which is frustrating for me because there are so many things I want to write! But it is going better/faster than it was two months ago.

I'm really glad you've enjoyed my stories =] When I first created this site I honestly didn't think anyone would read them because they were such a weird mix. I just wanted to prove to myself that I was brave enough to finish a series of stories, and post them online. It's absolutely astounding to me read comments like yours, so thank you so much!

    3. Laura, your comment was stuck in the spam filter and I didn't see it until just now. Sorry about that, it seems to be very random as to which comments are considered "spam." I was actually hoping to post something tonight, but I'm so tired I can't keep my eyes open for a last read through. I'll do that as soon as I can tomorrow.

  8. I'll take anything you want to post! I'm dying for more DOTB, so I won't mind chapters or the whole deal. Looking forward to your postings!
